ICE MAVERICKS HOCKEY PROGRAM ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL SEASON FOR 2023-2024
The Ice Mavericks Hockey Program is pleased to announce the club’s inaugural season for 2023-2024. The Ice Mavericks are a AAA organization that is rewriting the script on youth hockey as well as the academy model in North America. We are proud to say that we are fully dedicated to the development of our athletes on the ice as players, in the classroom as student-athletes, and most importantly in life as young adults. The organization aims to provide all players with an unmatched experience that will yield true player development and advancement.
For the 2023 - 24 season, the Ice Mavericks will field academy teams at the U16AAA and U18AAA levels. These teams are powered by the Athlete Academy, an all-encompassing program that offers academics, off-ice training, on ice training, and more! Players will receive professional coaching from our full-time overall performance as human beings, students, and athletes. The four key components that make up The Complete Athlete and the basis for all our curriculum are:
- Academics
- Hockey & Athletics
- Character Development & Leadership
- Strength/Conditioning & Video Analysis
In addition to the extensive development model, the Ice Mavericks staff have put together a rigorous game schedule against the top teams and organizations in North America, allowing our players to have the opportunity to showcase their talents to programs and coaches in the top junior and college hockey programs on a regular basis.
The Ice Mavericks are led by longtime AAA/Junior coach and program builder – RC Lyke. Following a highly successful and decorated Junior, College, and Pro playing career, RC has established himself as one of the best in the business in coaching, player development, and player advancement – while building a perennial powerhouse on the ice. He has served as the only Head Coach and GM in Richmond Generals 12 year history at the USPHL and u18 AAA levels. RC has advanced hundreds of players onto higher levels, including junior hockey, college, and the pros. In leading the Ice Mavericks – RC brings instant credibility to a program that aims to be amongst the top AAA programs in the country.
Acceptance into this program will be limited, as rosters will be made up of some of the best players at their respective levels in the U.S. and Canada. Tryout dates will be announced in early May; please stay tuned for more details.
